Mini mural art

Always on the lookout for things that inspire me I was pleased to see that some of the BT boxes have been turned into pieces of art. So much cheerier than the bog standard olive [or goose turd green as the Tudors called it!] paint job they usually get. Since then I've found out that Chester launched a mini mural trail in March and these are three of them.

I'd love to see more of this sort of thing being rolled out in other places. Brighton has some incredible decorated street furniture.

  2. How wonderful. Who does the street painting? Do they submit an idea for art before they paint, or do they just pick a box and go to work on it?

    1. It was done by 7 Cheshire artists who were commissioned by Chester Bid to create their pieces on the theme of "Chester designed by nature". Some had only just left art college whilst others are well established known painters. Arilx

  3. Having just walked down a sidewalk adjoining our little park, I can confirm that "Goose turd green" is an apt description. A Canada goose couple has set up nest-keeping next to a utility box in exactly that shade.
Those street painters are civic treasures: all the scenes shown must make passer-by's smile.
