The life and adventures of a mildly dotty old bird.
My new dancing mask has been finished for a good six weeks or so, but in classic Mythago tradition this is the first time I've been out...
Lol!!,Its amazing how he remembered all that!,Ive had the same all my life..Im Debra...but according to most people they write Deborah!,Debi,xx
ReplyDeleteI've got one of those names which can be spelt two ways too! I deliberately gave TYM a name which can only be spelt one way and isn't one people abbreviate! Saves a lot of hassle. Sometimes simple and classic is easiest! Arilx
DeleteVery good :) The one that always gets me is Ralph pronounced Rafe and now Rebecca spelt Rebekah ... I suppose my own name is one as well - I changed it because away from here people expect Phil to be a man - so a record company I was with suggested that Fil would be more feminine ... now people ask, how do you pronounce your name?!!
ReplyDeleteYes it's very confusing when the same thing is pronounced two entirely different ways isn't it!

There also seems to be a trend for some parents to make up their own way of spelling for some names. I see it a lot in the schools where I teach and it drives me nuts - Jennee (for Jenny), Bayleigh (for Bailey), and the worst one is Grayse (for Grace).
ReplyDeleteHadn't seen those spellings before! I overheard a lady calling her daughter Chicane once....not sure how it was spelt mind you!
