This is the space set aside for silent contemplation at Hidcote Gardens where we went back in the summer.

Monday is currently treatment day so whilst David is being given his stuff at the hospital I thought that I would take myself off and amuse ...
That's beautiful. One of my favourites is to only say something if you can improve upon the silence.
ReplyDeleteI retreat to my bedroom upstairs when things get too much for me, it's nice and quiet up there and it revives me to keep going.

Just quietly looking.
ReplyDeleteI went on a silent retreat once, for a weekend. When you remove speaking, a lot of distractions are removed from your day. At the end of the weekend, I felt refreshed, as if I'd been gone for a month. Note: out on a solitary walk, I wound up discovering a pond on the monastery, and I walked through the tall grass to get there. I was attacked by a goose. Temporarily, I forgot my vow of silence.
