Busy Old Week.

The last week in September is always quite a busy one for me. In the past five days I have celebrated my 23rd wedding anniversary and passed another milestone birthday wise [more of that in postlets to come].

Whilst I catch up with myself, I shall take a bit of a breather here and leave you with this I found amongst my notebooks of scribblings. I hasten to add the GBT marriage is not run along these lines..."Yes Sir, no Sir, three bags full Sir" might be closer to the mark!!

    Congratulations both anniversary and birthday wise, as for the 'A wise woman etc etc' our marriage is more on the lines 'for the sake of harmony boys just agree with what mum says...!' (quote unquote husband from a few years ago!!)

A Table for the Nation

Phew I've just spent an amazing Morris weekend watching two local sides dancing [as part of the May day celebrations Broadwood Morris dance in a local church!] and performing with Mythago as part of the Sweeps Festival in Rochester. Over lunchtime I popped into the cathedral and found this huge 13m oak table on display in the nave. Aside from its size the most surprising thing is it has been made from a piece of 5000 year old black bog oak which was discovered purely by chance preserved in the peat of Wissington Fens in 2012. Due to its year of discovery coinciding with the Diamond Jubilee it was named the Jubilee Oak. If this was only a section heaven only knows how big the original tree must have been. This type of oak is the densest native hardwood and the only naturally black one. I was interested to learn that it also gives a unique sound when made into musical instruments and is much sought after for that reason. Maybe not surprisingly it took nine months to dry the wood out

A moving tale

"Why?" you might well be asking yourself is she showing us a picture of a microwave with a pile of stuff. TYM is moving from his shared house into a furnished flat in another town next month [still renting] and due to the insurance on the property there are a few mobile items with plugs that you have to provide yourself. That in itself really isn't news. He has decided to buy himself a microwave, a toaster and a vacuum cleaner. Although his salary has increased with his recent promotion so have his necessary outgoings so he has to be mindful when spending. Only a couple of weeks ago I found out that there's a local house clearance company who are trying to improve the reputation of the business by not just throwing everything they can't sell into landfill. Instead they offer items within a specified area for free which you can ask for on their FB page. If they select you they then drop it off on your doorstep for free when they're working or travelling en rout
