We don't have a fireplace here in our modern 3 bed shoebox bar the teeny ones in the dollshouse. If we did I would have this in a heartbeat. I can't even really explain to you why it appeals to me so much. I just adore the homespun charm of the stitched foxgloves. Seen recently on my travels.
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. We have the Repair Cafe tomorrow so I shall be kept out of mischief doing cleaning refills for people. It's the launch of our Climate Change cafe too in the afternoon. I've not had anything to do with this project, but may well poke my nose round the door to see what it's all about.

I love fire-screens and I would have bought it. You don't need a fire or fireplace to display a fire-screen, just place it against a wall as a decoration. One house we lived in did have a fireplace, but didn't have a fire as my husband had taken the old gas fire out. Someone I worked with was very good at making things and recycling stuff so I asked her if she could make me a fire-screen. She made me exactly what I asked for, green background with barge painted roses etc. That was about 15 years ago and it comes with us whether we have a fireplace or not. I would never get rid of it.
ReplyDeleteI love barge ware style. Your firescreen sounds gorgeous Joy. This one wasn't for sale...probably just as well otherwise it would be here by now!

I've got an Edwardian embroidered fire screen, its got a bird of paradise and some exotic looking blooms as the design. I kept seeing it at the car boot sale and in the end felt sorry for it and bought it home with me - I didn't need it but it was only a quid!
