The Black Swan
The emblem of Leeds Castle is a black swan after the former owner Lady Baillie imported some from Australia. There are various references made to the bird around the grounds, but I was rather pleased to see that they still have the real thing too. Haven't seen one in years and so it rather stole my heart.
Have a fantastic weekend folks!
Oh how lovely ... I've only seen them in Australia ... beautifulReplyDelete
They are featured in native Australian folklore.Delete
I visited Leeds castle about 20 years ago and was surprised to also see Hawaiian native geese there....Nene in Hawaiian. They almost went extinct here and it was bird collectors from overseas who helped in the recovery.ReplyDelete
