Orange Pelting

It was the tradition at Pascombe Pit on Dunstable Downs to throw oranges down the hill on Good Friday. It's not known why, but the suggestion is that it may have been to represent the stone rolling away from Jesus's tomb. In later years its name changed from orange pelting to orange rolling. Sadly the tradition has not been seen since 1968.
